Who We Are

Bestspring Children & Youth Development Foundation is a grassroots-based Non-Governmental Organization that advocates for the rights of vulnerable children and youths (and by extension their caregivers). Our mandate is to heal hurts and restore hope to indigent and streetwise children/youths through the provision of steady, qualitative and holistic empowerment & support through education, health/social enlightenment &sensitization, music & visual arts, vocational training, advocacy and more importantly, mentorship.

Founded in 2002 as a freelance group supporting indigent children/youths across Nigeria, Bestspring Foundation became formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a non-governmental, not-for-profit, non-partisan organization in 2010. Our work base is in Ijegun, in the lkotun axis of Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos State. Our work in this community started in October 2013 with the enrollment of 23 OVCs into our Back-To-School Program and Edu-Care Scholarship Scheme. We have since grown in leaps and bounds.

Although densely populated, Ijegun is largely enmeshed in poverty and illiteracy, with high rate of school dropouts, child labour, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, risky sexual behaviors and its attendant STDs & STIs, unemployment, hooliganism, drug addiction, human trafficking and wanton waste of human resources and talents. Due to the poverty rate, which is very high, many youths, especially girls are vulnerable.

In a society plagued with the upsurge of moral decadence, social menace, school dropout, illiteracy, teenage pregnancy, emergency adulthood, confusion and. apathy, especially amongst youths, there is urgent need to salvage the next generation from the doldrums of ignorance, idleness, gender-based violence, hooliganism and poverty, which sometimes culminates in sheer waste of valuable human resources and consequently leads to self destruction.

Bestspring Foundation is committed to providing mentorship, guidance and empowerment to children and youths on issues of morality, relationship, reproductive health, career, poverty reduction, capacity building, positive talent utilization, social development and patriotism. As social advocates and change-makers, we have a holistic vision to mentor and support both privileged children as well as those regarded as social rejects; the abused, the broken and the battered.

Our primary target audience are orphans, vulnerable and physically challenged children/youths (and by extension their caregivers:- mostly widows, single mothers, adolescent mothers etc).
